Colours of Kauaʻi

At around 5 million years, Kauai is the oldest and most weathered of the Hawaiian Islands. The chain of islands was formed by volcanic eruptions when the Pacific Plate passed over the Hawaiian hotspot, but its relative old age means that it is the least active and most diverse. This aerial photograph shows the stunning colours of the Nā Pali Coast State Wilderness Park, with the lush green vegetation and red volcanic earth contrasting with the blue of the vast Pacific Ocean; an earthly paradise.
