Duomo
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore towers over the Italian city of Florence and is, perhaps, the quintessential icon of the Renaissance. Whilst construction was started in 1296, it was only completed in 1436, with Brunelleschi’s magnificent Duomo as its centrepiece. At the time, the Duomo was the largest masonry dome in the world – and it remains so to this day. These photographs show the cathedral in the last light of a summer’s day, when the pinks fade to blue and the spotlights take over.
