Road to Nowhere

Driving around the winding roads of the sparse, wintry landscape of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland, one cannot help but hum along to David Byrne’s light-hearted take on the apocalypse, ‘Road to Nowhere’, from 1985: “We’re on a road to nowhere | Come on inside | Taking that ride to nowhere | We’ll take that ride”. Iceland is a landscape photographer’s dream and memories of trips keep you going in times of confinement: “I’m feeling okay this morning | And you know | We’re on the road to paradise | Here we go, here we go…”
