The Nights | Hanalei Dreams

On the north shore of the Hawaiian island of Kauai is the beautiful crescent of Hanalei Bay. This is about as idyllic as it gets on our planet: two miles of pristine beach surrounded by emerald mountains, taro fields and the meandering Hanalei River flowing into the Pacific blue. As I walked through the main drag of the laidback surfer’s paradise centred in the bay, I heard for the first time Avicii’s “The Nights”. The song cautioned me “One day you'll leave this world behind | So live a life you will remember”. Whilst Tim Bergling is tragically no longer with us, his song and a few photos (including this long exposure seascape) help me to remember those perfect days – and the nights – spent in Hanalei in August 2015.
