Greenhouse of the Incas

Nestled in the foothills of the Peruvian cordillera is the ancient Incan site of Moray. The ruins look like a Roman amphitheatre, but had a more prosaic function. Moray was an agricultural laboratory where the Incas experimented with growing different crops. Each circular level has a different micro-climate, with a difference of of 15°C between the top and bottom levels. The Sacred Valley is an agricultural eden and the birthplace of potato, quinoa and corn production; Moray is its greenhouse.
