Trinity
Nestled between two ‘sees’ in eastern Switzerland is the Canton of Zug: its fairytale landscapes are evocative of Teletubbyland, Hobbiton and Johanna Spyri’s Heidi. Moraine hills or drumlins, formed by glacial erosion, dot the plains. Atop each hill is a solitary linden or lime tree. The linden is highly symbolic and treasured in Germanic culture, and local custom is to plant a tree on a hill at the birth of a son. The trinity of trees on these hills suggest a lively household for the landowner.
