Colours of Easter Island
Just north of Hanga Roa (Easter Island’s only modern settlement) lie the remnants of the Tahai Ceremonial Complex. The important Rapa Nui site was restored by William and Emily Mulloy between 1968-1974 - they loved it so much they are buried here. This photograph, taken on 30 December 2016, shows the lone moai Ko Te Riku contemplating another magnificent Pacific sunset. Ko Te Riku is fortunate; he was put back on his ahu, as well as being given new coral eyes and a red scoria pukao (headdress).
