Tokyo Dusk
The helipad at the top of the Roppongi Hills complex in Tokyo’s Minato district provides great views of Japan’s sprawling megacity. The distinctive orange and white communications tower is one of Tokyo’s main landmarks. Completed in 1958 and designed by Tachū Naitō, the Tokyo Tower was based on the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but with Japanese technology to prevent damage from earthquakes. The colours were required by aviation law and are maintained every 5 years, taking a year and 28,000L of paint.
