Ripples

This photograph was taken from a hot air balloon on a dawn flight in Namibia's Namib-Naukluft National Park. The route taken by the pilot is dependent on the wind patterns each morning. On this morning we were taken away from the dunes and pans often associated with the Sossusvlei region of the Namib Desert and blown eastwards into the Naukluft mountain range. These silhouetted ridges create a rippling effect in the lemon-tinged dawn light.
