And after their travels, the two foreigners were weary. So Earl Thor took them to the Landmannalaugar, the people’s pools, where the water steamed and was hot. And the two foreigners saw that the land hissed and was foul smelling, and they were silent. Whereat Thor led the two foreigners up into the higher lands, to the valley of the orange and blue hills. “Look” he said, “for you are in the realm of Niðavellir and that way lies the sacred spring of Hvergelmir”. And the two foreigners were silent, for their own lands were not like these of the Icelanders.
