The Dragon’s Eye

On the western shore of Vestvågøy, in the Lofoten Islands archipelago of northern Norway, lies Uttakleiv beach. The strand is famous for its white sands and aquamarine waters against a backdrop of jagged mountains jutting into the sea. The weather in Lofoten is, however, usually vile, which adds to the drama of the place. Low tide reveals a series of pools, which have been shaped by years of savage wind and waves. In one particular pool lies a large stone, rounded by the weather and surrounded by tripods: the Dragon’s Eye.
