Beyond the Bridge

Every year, around the last week of September, the small town of Llanrwst in the Conwy Valley of North Wales hosts a visual delight for locals and visitors alike. On the western bank of the River Conwy lies a medieval building known as Tu Hwnt I'r Bont (lit. Beyond the Bridge). Originally constructed in 1480, it was used as a courthouse but is now a traditional tea house owned by the National Trust. The visual delight is of course the Virginia creeper, which covers the building and turns a magnificent red in early autumn.
