The Quiraing

There are some places which, once seen, are hard to forget. The Quiraing on the Isle of Skye in the Scottish Hebrides is one such landscape. It’s one of the world’s most beautiful broken places, an ancient landslide formed of terrestrial turmoil which resembles a domain of dragons, dinosaurs or the BFG (the latter was filmed here). The dappled and diffused light of this early summer morning illuminates the hills and the clichéd lone tree; so much for the “misty isle” the Vikings named “Skuy”.
