The Flute
The view from the outermost promontory on the Faroese island of Kalsoy’s northern tip is simply breathtaking. The island is known locally as the Flute, due to its long thin shape and the recent hollowing out of various road tunnels. At the end of the only road on the island lies Kallur lighthouse, which is a hike from the village of Trøllanes. The tussocky ridges and windswept precipices create a hair-raising final section, with 150m sheer drops into the sea on either side; the view is worth it.
