The Tree

How can something dead be dying? In the aquamarine waters of the Dead Sea, just off shore of Neve Zohar, Israel, is a curious sight. Perched on an island of salt around 1km into the sea is a single tree, bare and encrusted in the beautiful desolation. The tree is apparently the work of a local artist, perhaps a comment on the inexorable decline of the Dead Sea by receding water levels. This stitched panorama was taken in December 2018, after a lively swim and evading some zealous lifeguards.
